Plastic has been an emerging issue globally in polluting our environment and most of all our oceans. Last January 27, 2020, different NGOs and the Archdiocese of Cebu united for a movement called the #WayPlastikayCebu. #WayPlastikayCebu is an informal group of civil society and faith-based organizations formed by Oceana to promote ban on single-use plastics in the province of Cebu.”Way plastikay” is an expression Cebuano which means not being “plastic” or being true to yourself and others.
The #WayPlastikayCebu movement was launched last January 31, 2020, during the 1st Archdiocesan Convention on Climate Emergency held in Cebu.
