In observance of National Disaster Resilience Month this July, the Central Visayas Network of NGOs (CENVISNET) held a meeting to discuss the reactivation of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) Hub, which aims to encourage non-governmental organizations to build a resource generation and mobilization plan that will highlight crisis mapping for vulnerable groups, conduct preparedness training for local government units, and establish a data repository for disaster response.
Considering the lack of coordination for disasters as experienced during Typhoon Odette last December 2021, organizations under the CENVISNET presented their respective insights and projects in line with the objectives of the Provincial DRRM Hub. Among those organizations in attendance were the Coastal Conservation and Education Foundation (CCEF), Junior Chamber International (JCI) – Cebu, Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI) – Humanitarian Disaster Preparedness and Response Program, and the Fellowship for Organizing Endeavors, Inc. (FORGE).
As the provincial convenor of the meeting, RAFI suggested relaunching the Provincial DRRM hub through a two-day exposition from July 22 to 23, 2022 at Ayala Center Cebu. Through this event, the CENVISNET seeks to further promote disaster resiliency for the benefit of the entire community.
