On August 8, 2024, the Coastal Conservation and Education Foundation, Inc. (CCEF), in partnership with Booth and Partners, successfully handed over the first tranche of funds for the Adopt a Marine Protected Area (MPA) initiative. The funds were allocated to the Hingotanan West Fisherman’s Association (HIWEFA) in Bien Unido, Bohol, for the construction of their MPA guardhouse, and to the Kahugpungan sa Gagmayng Mag-uuma ug Mangingisda sa Sinandigan (KAGAMMASI) in Ubay, Bohol, for their identified livelihood project.
The turnover ceremony was held at the CCEF Field Office in Poblacion Talibon, Bohol, and was attended by key local officials and organization leaders, including Mrs. Rosamia I. Tutor, Municipal Agriculturist; Mrs. Ginalyn B. Pala, CRM Officer of Bien Unido; Hon. Leodelino Paden, Barangay Captain of Hingotanan West; and Hon. Jimmy U. Dabalos, Barangay Captain of Sinandigan, Ubay, along with the presidents and officers of both organizations.
