The regional rollout training on barangay advocacy on the prevention of corruption was launched last December 11-12, 2018 at Hotel Elizabeth, Kamputhaw, Cebu City.
Recognizing the importance of the barangay in the development and transformation of the nation especially in the fights against corruption, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) through the Office of the Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs is encouraging the participation of the civil society organizations (CSOs) which are recognized and accredited by barangays to help oversee the practice of good governance at the barangay level.
The two-day event reached its intention to mobilize organizations for this campaign through providing information and understanding about the types of corruption and its common acts, anti – corruption legal measures and institutional mechanics, good governance reform frameworks and preventing corruption through efficient service delivery. The role of the Ombudsman and the civil society against corruption and good governance as well as opportunities and entry points of Prevention of Corruption where organizations can participate were highlighted. A systematic normative and ethical approach that has an effective way in combating corruption, promoting and sustaining barangay good governance was presented.
