History:
The sanctuary was established in 1997 with the assistance from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) – 11. The sanctuary was than legislated through an ordinance number 11, series of 1997. Initial budget for the purchase of patrol boat was appropriated and monitoring has been done. Sanctuary management plan was realized in the year 2000 and is incorporated in the 5-year Coastal Resource Management Plan of the municipality.
