From the initiatives of ARD-GOLD, CRMP and the Bohol Environment Management Office (BEMO) fully supported by Gov. Rene Relampagos, the local government of Guindulman started making plans for the seas. Because of this, they’ve reached a decision for the establishment of the marine sanctuary. In the beginning, the MPA drew unfavorable reaction from the fishermen. With the help of municipal officials specifically from the office for agricultural services and the support from the barangay council, things went well and now the sanctuary is managed by Basdio Farmers and Fishermen’s Association.
