History:
Established by the Central Visayas Regional Project (CVRP) in 1988. When CVRP ended in 1992, the sanctuary became non-functional. Municipal Resolution no. 249-99 was recently passed (1999) by the Sangguniang Bayan of Moalboal for the revival of Tongo Fish Sanctuary authorizing the Mayor to appropriate funds for the purchase of marker buoys and materials for the guardhouse.
